My Ideal Training Program must satisfy these points.
- The training should be focused on my actual job related needs.
- I want to take training only on what I need.
- I want the training to be “hands-on” and interactive. I learn best by “doing”, not just watching someone else.
- I want to be able to train during slow or down times.
- I don’t want any travel or per-diem costs.
- I want to take the training on my timetable, even in small chunks if necessary.
- I want to be able to take the training from any convenient computer hooked to the Internet. I want the training to be available anytime, anywhere.
- I don’t want to keep my training records myself. This should be automated. I just want to be able to access them conveniently anytime, from any computer.
- I want to track of my progress.
- I want to see all my evaluations, both before and after the training.
- I want to have a “personal trainer” available at all times. I want to be able to use the training as a “job aid” to learn a specific process whenever it is needed for a job I am working on.
- I want to know that new training is continually being made available as technology is being updated.
- I want to be able to request specific job task training if I become aware of a need and to have an input into future training development.
- I want training that motivates and instills enthusiasm. I do not want training that is a drag, a waste of time, or worse yet, “is a joke”.
